Monica Dombrowski, Director at Large Candidate

Monica Dombrowski, Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District

Statement of Concern
I’ve been involved with ILA for a number of years now and I’ve built an expansive network of colleagues across the state working in every type of library and community. During my library career, I’ve been blessed to work at two types of libraries serving four very different communities and I think having that experience will make me an asset on the Board. It’s important when we’re making decisions or contemplating actions to look at things from a wide range of viewpoints to ensure we understand the implications. I learned a lot while serving on the ILA’s Public Policy Committee and worked to ensure the committee considered the implications of proposed legislation on different sizes and types of libraries during my time on the committee. After my stint on Public Policy, I moved to ILA’s Advocacy Committee, where I am currently serving both on the committee at large as well as on the subcommittee focused on reworking the website. I feel passionate about giving back to the library community that welcomed and supported me as a career shifter 12 years ago, and I believe that helping to guide our state organization would be a great way to do so!
