  • Trustee Attendance at 2019 ILA Annual Conference - The Illinois Library Association Annual Conference offered an excellent opportunity for trustees to attend programs and network with librarians and other library trustees. This year, there were 143 trustees registered for Trustee Day, and 35 trustees registered for the full conference in Tinley Park.
  • The New Trusty Trustee - Beginning in August 2019, library trustee members of ILA now receive the Trusty Trustee e-newsletter. The newsletter shared with the Trustees the recommended amendments to the Trustee Forum bylaws, and will keep trustees informed about upcoming educational training opportunities and legislative meet ups. Past issues of the newsletter can be accessed here. Send your questions, or suggestions for information to share in upcoming issues of the Trusty Trustee, to kcaudill@eapl.org. 
  • Goals of the Trustee Forum - Long term goals for the Trustee Forum include expanding the number of trustees serving on the Trustee Forum Executive Board and welcoming trustees from across the state to serve on the Board.  
  • Trustees Invited to Attend the Next Trustee Forum Board Meeting Remotely - The Executive Board of the Trustee Forum is thrilled to announce that trustees from across the state will now be able to remotely access the Trustee Forum quarterly meetings. Zoom (a remote conferencing tool ILA has made available to conduct online meetings) will now make it be possible for trustees across the state to use a computer, smart phone, mobile device or tablet to remotely attend the Trustee Forum Executive Board meeting.

The next Trustee Forum Executive Board meeting is scheduled for 10 am, Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Brookfield Public Library, in Brookfield, Illinois.   • Trustee Forum Collaborative Efforts in ILA and Beyond - ILA Trustee Forum leadership attend the summer ILA orientation session. This provides an opportunity to network with various ILA committee and forum leaders. Additionally, several members of the Trustee Forum Executive Board have served on past library system boards, and several currently serve on the Reaching Across Illinois Libraries (RAILS) library system, American Library Association (ALA) committees or the United For Libraries division of ALA.
