Responsible for the planning, execution, and assessment of all library services, the Assistant Director leads development of diverse, equitable, and inclusive opportunities for community enrichment, education, and engagement. Supervises Information & Reader, Membership, Youth, and Media Services managers whose teams develop relevant public services for all in the community. We seek diverse candidates who reflect different identities and encourage those who have gained library and leadership skills outside of traditional education to apply.
Duties:
- Lead the library services team in providing relevant community services
- Define and achieve collection, research, technology, and program support strategies
- Support the team in strengthening outcome development and assessment for library materials, programs, and services, enhancing data-driven decision making
- Maintain and develop relationships with partners to expand positive community impact
- Support the Library in organization-wide DEI initiatives as well as general staff training
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Library Science (ALA accredited) preferred or equivalent expertise
- 5 years of progressively responsible service in libraries preferred or equivalent experience
- Library values including access, intellectual freedom, DEI, and lifelong learning
- Ability to communicate vision clearly, inspiring the team in fulfilling the Library’s mission
- Project and talent management, adaptability, collaboration, strategic thinking, and leadership
- Spanish language skills preferred
Salary
$87,000-$108,000, DOQ.
