Seeking Library Executive Director

What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a compelling vision and strategic plan that positions our library as an essential community hub
- Lead budget management and financial operations while maximizing resource impact
- Champion library advocacy at local, state, and national levels
- Build cooperative partnerships with governmental agencies and community organizations
Team & Operations Management
- Recruit, develop, and inspire a talented team committed to exceptional public service
- Create library-wide benchmarks and comprehensive training programs
- Ensure safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments for both patrons and staff
- Oversee all library operations with a focus on innovation and efficiency
Community Impact
- Translate community needs into effective programs and services
- Maintain robust public relations and community engagement initiatives
- Represent the library at meetings and professional events
Innovation & Growth
- Stay ahead of library service trends and emerging technologies
- Collaborate with IT partners to meet evolving digital needs
- Develop data-driven approaches to service improvement
- Present compelling reports and presentations to diverse stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Master’s in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution
- Minimum five (5) years of public library experience
- At least three (3) years of management experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

- Financial Acumen: Knowledge of budgeting procedures and statistical record-keeping

Compensation
Salary: $92,000 to $115,475 depending on qualifications.
Benefits include health insurance, vision, and dental, as well as paid leave. CAPLD is an IMRF Library.
