IEEE seeks a Client Services Manager, located in the Central US, to build relationships with IEEE customers; encouraging usage and educating administrators and researchers about IEEE content, the IEEE Xplore digital library, and other IEEE platforms and products. 

The incumbent will primarily support customers by providing outreach, training, promotional activities and programs to grow usage and communicate the value of IEEE information. The role reports to the Director of IEEE Client Services and requires minimal supervision.

This full-time telecommuter supports IEEE customers in the Central US and Canada. Preference will be given to applicants with a home office based in the Midwest or South Central region of the US with easy access to a major airport.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support IEEE Sales in selected territory through programs of awareness, training, customer support and events.
  •  Develop and implement programs and events that build customer relationships and drive IEEE usage and awareness for user communities, including librarians, engineers, authors, researchers, students and faculty.
  • Train librarians, end-users, authors, and regional sales staff in effective use of the IEEE Xplore digital library and other electronic information products through on-site visits, phone support, email support, and internet conferencing.
  • Support IEEE Open Access by educating administrators and authors on workflows, author tools, organizational promotions, and reporting.
  • Organize complex events, such as IEEE Xplore customer meetings, authorship workshops, IEEE Student Branch-sponsored activities, university/industry outreach programs, customized events and public speaking opportunities.
  • Effectively organize, manage and lead virtual and hybrid events.
  • Assist with introductions of new products and platforms as well as support customers during roll-out of new subscriptions and monitor usage to encourage promotion of new content or platforms.
  • Contact top customers regularly, territory Account Managers and sales staff regularly.
  • Report customer feedback to product development and design teams.
  • Create client-specific training and promotional materials including custom tutorials, flyers, user guides, etc.
  • Travel as needed, for customer visits, conferences, training and awareness events, as well as regular meetings at the home office in New Jersey.


  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Library and Information Science preferred.
  • 4 – 7 years’ experience in a university, corporate or government library or in a customer-facing scholarly publisher training or outreach role preferred.
  • Training experience with a demonstrated comfort with electronic information products.
  • Experience with scientific digital libraries strongly desired.
  • Proven online search and demonstration expertise.
  • Knowledge of information industry and library trends, methods and technologies.
  • Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate products one-on-one or for large audiences, both in-person and online.
  • Understanding of the current market for electronic subscription products.
  • Ability to lead meetings and events on web conferencing systems, such as WebEx, Zoom, ON24, etc.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
