Communications and Development Manager | Indian Trails Public Library

The Indian Trails Public Library District (ITPLD) has an exciting opportunity for an individual with excellent leadership abilities and experience in communications, marketing, fundraising, and event planning to be part of a dynamic library. This position is part of the management team in a customer-centric focused and collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will be diplomatic, build and sustain relationships within the library and throughout the community, exercise independent judgment and effective decision making and be committed to serving the members of our community. The Communications and Development Manager would exemplify the library’s values of service, respect, trust, compassion, innovation and curiosity in order to cultivate the library’s culture. This job is full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

The library also supports continued learning and professional growth. Annualized salary of $69,349.01.

 Some of the job duties include:

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications and marketing program to communicate a positive message about the Indian Trails Public Library District and to promote its programs, services, and resources effectively to general and targeted audiences.
  • Provide leadership within the department as well as throughout the library as part of the management team to ensure a customer centric focus and collaborative team environment.
  • Serves as the staff liaison to the Foundation for the Indian Trails Public Library District, which includes, but is not limited to establishing an annual fundraising goal, cultivating donors, crafting an annual appeal, maintaining accurate donor gift records.
  • Prepare annual communication and marketing plans with corresponding budget that identifies objectives, audiences, strategies, key messages, and evaluation mechanisms.
  • Build productive relationships with media contacts, community leaders, community organizations, and legislators. Represents the library at community functions.
  • Supervises assigned employees, including hiring, creating staff schedules, delegating responsibilities, evaluating, offering continuing education opportunities, rewarding innovation, recognizing outstanding work and encouraging library-wide communication.
  • Participate in the planning and organization of in-house library special events.
  • Lead the content decisions, design and production of the library district’s newsletter, e-newsletter, brochures, flyers, posters, displays, social media, and all library collateral material.
  • Serve as person in-charge (PIC) as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications or journalism.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Excellent English writing, speaking and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant software and equipment.
  • Familiarity of Adobe Creative Suite and understanding of desktop publishing skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
