The Programming Specialist plans, executes, and evaluates programs for adults and coordinates large scale, library-wide programs.  This position also assists customers of all ages at public service desks with information and reference questions and assists and instructs customers with their use of library computers, electronic devices, and other technologies.

Requirements

The Champaign Public Library seeks a creative, energetic, and forward-looking individual to plan and coordinate adult programs and large scale events at a vibrant and progressive library. This individual will coordinate the Great Authors Series featuring best-selling authors as well as a variety of excellent programs throughout the year.  The Programming Specialist builds partnerships, when appropriate, with community organizations and groups as part of the program planning process.

Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution preferred or equivalent education and experience acceptable.  The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, well-spoken, and have a strong ability to take initiative.  Public library experience is preferred.  Candidates must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds, assist with room setups, and push fully loaded carts of library materials.  Schedule includes evening and weekend shifts.
