Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for a Learning Commons Director. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and experienced leader with a strong understanding of the evolving role of the Learning Commons. The Director is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and assessing the Learning Commons’ resources and services, including academic support services such as peer- tutoring and information literacy instruction. The Director supervises and mentors student Work Program workers and professional staff. The successful candidate will be committed to innovative service and outreach and will strengthen partnerships with faculty and staff to foster student success through information literacy, academic support, and peer-tutoring services.

Blackburn College is located in Carlinville, Illinois, a small rural community between Springfield, IL and St. Louis, MO and has been called one of the “Best Small Towns in America.” It is the seat of Macoupin County and is within an easy drive to St. Louis, Missouri, and Springfield, Illinois.
The successful candidate will have documented experience enhancing the role of the library as a center of teaching and learning and student success, as well as substantive knowledge and skills in planning, building relationships across campus, and staff development, including student staff. A Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science or equivalent experience is required. Demonstrated experience building a Learning Commons and administrative experience within an academic library is strongly preferred.
