The Champaign Public Library seeks a creative, energetic, and forward-looking individual to plan and implement programs and services to adults, teens, children and children’s advocates. The Librarian assists in collection development for children and coordinates outreach efforts to children in the Douglass Branch neighborhood.
Under the supervision of the Douglass Branch Manager, the Librarian creates an environment that attracts all ages with a focus on children from birth to sixth grade and their advocates to use the services of the branch library. This environment is developed through work at the public service desks, by cultivating cooperative relationships with neighborhood schools and community groups, and through presentations. This position also assists customers of all ages at public service desks with information and reference questions and assists and instructs customers with their use of library computers, electronic devices, and makerspace tools and equipment.

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution preferred or equivalent education and experience acceptable. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, well-spoken, and have a strong ability to take initiative. Public library experience is preferred. Schedule includes evening and weekend hours.
