Local Government ILA Initiative Advances in the Illinois General Assembly
March 19, 2015House Bill (HB) 3434 passed out of the Illinois House Cities and Villages Committee unanimously on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. The bill amends the Illinois Local Library Act by providing that any amount the library board believes will be necessary to levy taxes for the library's next fiscal year shall be submitted to the governing board of the municipality 60 days prior to when any tax levy is to be made (rather than 60 days after the expiration of the fiscal year). The bill now advances to the full House.
