ALA Legislative Update: Support Library Funding in the FY2023 Appropriations Bill
December 8, 2022While last month’s midterm election means a change in the balance of power in the House of Representatives, the current Congress must finish its business and important library funding issues are on the line.
Congress must decide next week on government funding and this could be our last chance to increase funding for crucial library programs before the new Congress is sworn in.
Click here to tell your members of Congress to #FundLibraries.
We need you to write to your members of Congress and tell them to support:
-
$20 million investment in library facilities funding – the first dedicated facilities funding in 26 years!
-
Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding at $201 million
-
Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) funding at $32 million
Congress will wrap up crucial business in the post-election period and we need your help so libraries are not left out. Add your voice and together we can advocate for the value and urgency of funding libraries in every community!
