ILA Supports Vaccine Eligibility for Library Staff
January 12, 2021We know vaccine eligibility is of great concern to many Illinois library workers. ILA is advocating with a two-pronged approach regarding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility for library workers: First, urging IDPH for public librarians to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in Phase 1b or Phase 1c at the latest, noting that decisions about the extent to which libraries are open to in-person public services are being made on a local level, and the localities will need to know that decisions they make are in keeping with state guidance; second, to provide library directors with a template letter to use to follow up with their own county departments of public health.
We hope these efforts and resources are helpful as libraries continue to be vital pillars of the Restore Illinois plan to fully, and safely, re-open the state.
