Adult Services Manager | Joliet Public Library

Posted on Jan 25, 2023

The Joliet Public Library is looking for a dynamic leader to collaborate with two Assistant Managers and nearly 20-staff members on overseeing the variety of collections, programs, and services offered to adult patrons. A complete renovation of the beautiful downtown building on Ottawa Street just wrapped-up and plans are in place for a revamp of the busy, suburban Black Road facility. A few of the upgrades at Ottawa Street include a dedicated Local History Room, a Digital Media Studio, an additional large meeting room, and five study rooms. Coming soon is a brand new literacy outreach vehicle.

Joliet is one of the largest cities in Illinois with a culturally diverse, growing population of over 150,000. Spanish-language speakers are a valuable addition to the team and are encouraged to apply. Through the two locations–one in the city center across from the historic Rialto Theater and the second out west adjacent to the beautiful Rock Run Preserve–and a significant online presence, the Joliet Public Library offers something for everyone.

The Adult Services Manager needs to be a positive, flexible team member. Empathy and a great sense of humor are a must as the last few years of working in the public sector have been tough. If you are full of energy, exude creativity, and are keen on developing your interpersonal skills, you might be the right person for the job. Come play a key role in the reinvigoration of JPL and help us live the new motto that we are Not Just Any Library!

The annual salary offer starts at $66,300.00, based on qualifications, experiences, and internal equities. The Library offers excellent benefits with 11 paid holidays (2023), 12 sick days, and 5 weeks of vacation. The chosen candidate will be enrolled in the valuable Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance as well.
