Electronic Resources Librarian - Faculty Position | Oakton Community College

Oakton Community College seeks to fill one full-time, tenure-track library position beginning with the 2018-2019 academic year in Fall 2018.  The successful applicant will be qualified and able to provide and maintain access to the library's electronic resources, including but not limited to, information, communication, assistive, and related technologies as they affect the resources, service delivery, and uses of electronic resources in libraries. The candidates' depth of knowledge should surpass that of the generalists'.

Applicants must be strong communicators and effective classroom facilitators who enjoy teaching in a student-centered environment.

Required Qualification: Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three year's experience in an academic library setting
  • Experience in working with the life cycle of electronic resources, including proxy configuration, link resolving, consortial relations, e-books, URL and A to Z list maintenance, EDS, trouble-shooting on and off campus, selecting and budgeting of e-resources in an academic library setting
  • Experience in applying the principles and practices related to electronic resources and electronic collections
  • Knowledge of electronic resource licensing and the legal framework in which it takes place, including vendor negotiations
  • Familiarity with online library systems
  • Experience in reference and instruction in an academic library setting
  • A second Master's Degree and teaching experience


The minimum salary in the hiring range for the 2018-19 academic year is $51,927 and the maximum is $63,463.
