Director | Riverdale Public Library District

Posted on Jan 5, 2022

The Board of Trustees of the Riverdale Public Library District is looking for a Director eager to re-establish the Library as a cornerstone of the community. The 7-member, elected Board is getting the Library back on its feet following the pandemic. They need a Director who shares their energy. Riverdale will benefit from a collaborative administrator willing to make important connections with the schools, parks, and Village. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced director looking to revitalize the Library or an emerging leader who is ready to take the next step in their upward-bound career. The right candidate will get as much as they give.

Candidates must have outstanding people skills, evidence of successful promotion of services, and knowledge of budgeting and fiscal matters. They will establish a baseline of policies and procedures built to solidify the Library for years to come. They will provide the proper setting for the recruitment, development, and evaluation of professional, customer service-oriented employees; employees who will welcome patrons back to the Library. The candidate will participate in events outside of the normal work-week. They will work to enhance relationships with local leaders, serve as a member of area organizations, and get people excited again about visiting the Library. The new Director will drive the creation and implementation of the Library's next strategic plan.

This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary offer starting at $60,000.00, based on qualifications and experience. The Riverdale Public Library District also offers a generous benefits package including paid vacation and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.

Minimum qualifications for the position include a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program, 5-years of related library work, and at least 3-years of increasing supervisory experience. Riverdale has a growing Spanish-speaking community, and a Director with this ability would bring added benefit to the position.

Minimum annual salary of $60,000.00, based on experience and accomplishments.
