The Carol Stream Public Library is currently seeking an innovative and customer focused Youth Services Librarian to join the Youth Services Team. Responsibilities

Our Youth Services Librarians focus on providing patrons with reference and reader’s advisory. Responsibilities include engaging in person, virtual and passive programming. This position will collaborate with the Bilingual Librarian to plan special programs and services for this growing community. Develop, maintain, and promote a collection of materials. Assist in the development of displays for the services and collections in Spanish. When needed interpret for Spanish-speaking patrons throughout the Library for staff and patrons.

Requirements

Education

  • MLIS or equivalent from an ALA accredited school

Experience

  • One to three years working with children or teens in a library or educational setting
  • One year Librarian experience
  • One year customer service experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The ability to write and speak fluently in Spanish preferred
  • Works collaboratively as a member of a team and independently with minimal direction
  • Knowledge of library materials for youth and collection management
  • Knowledge of reference and reader's advisory resources

Part-time, non-exempt position, 16 hours per week

Set schedule to be determined includes daytime, evening and every other weekend hours
