Innovation Technician | Glenview Public Library

Do you like making things? Are you creative with a passion for technology? Does the idea of working with others using Makerspace technology sound like fun? The Glenview Public Library seeks an individual who is creative and excited to be part of a team that fosters “making” and creativity among library patrons and the community. Knowledge of makerspace equipment and associated software is preferred. The ability to instruct and assist library users in the use of all equipment in the Innovation Services Department is a must. Working knowledge of some relevant technologies such as CAD software, office productivity tools, fiber arts, robotics and related software, personal devices and emerging Makerspace trends and technologies is necessary. The Innovation Technician must also be able to troubleshoot basic Innovation Center equipment and/or perform needed repairs. Ability to conceptualize creatively and quickly, as well as the ability to see projects through to fruition is a must. Excellent oral and written communication skills required to work harmoniously with a multicultural/multigenerational staff and patron population.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED and some technical training preferred; a minimum of one years’ work experience in a related field required.

Schedule: Part-Time position, 20 hours/week, including some evenings and weekends

Salary

Hiring range: $16.96 – $19.08 DOQ
