IACRL at ILA: 2025 Unconference Preview
Illinois Association of College & Research Libraries Forum (IACRL)
September 24, 2025By Gwendolyn Gemmel, Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS)
The IACRL Unconference on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 8-10am will provide a space for IACRL members to gather and discuss topics and themes most prevalent in our profession. Participants will be invited to self-select into tables with topics of interest to them.
Our hope is that this discussion format will encourage people from different institutions in IACRL to come together and connect with one another and discuss common interests, forging bonds that will last beyond the conference. During the last part of the event, each group will be invited to share with other tables what they'd talked about, ideas that they had, and questions that they still want to explore.
Discussions will help inform IACRL’s webinars and programming this year as we seek to provide members with professional development opportunities that are of interest. Spend time with your colleagues to problem-solve, share stories, and leave with innovative ideas. Academic library staff from all departments, classifications, and levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Some potential discussion topics include:
- Strategies for professional development and training
- Integrating library services and resources into classroom instruction
- The impact of AI on academic libraries and library instruction
- Effective assessment strategies for library classroom instruction
- Dealing with eResources to both fit budgets and maximize usability
- Academic library programming and outreach
- Strategies for working with stakeholders outside of the library
We hope to see you there!
