Illinois Association of College & Research Libraries Forum (IACRL)
August 11, 2025The Illinois Open Education Coordinating Team is excited to share some upcoming events and reshare our report from the April ILOE Summit and ways you can get involved with Open Education capacity-building efforts in Illinois
Who is ILOE?
Illinois Open Education (ILOE) is a collective of academic library workers, faculty, students, staff, instructional designers and technologists, administrators, and members of organizations focused on higher education who are committed to advancing and sustaining Open Educational Practices (OEP) in Illinois.
Based on the fundamental principle of education as a basic human right, ILOE seeks to not only promote and support the use of low and no cost course materials, but to 1) inform Illinoisans about the value and possibilities of Open Educational Materials and Open Pedagogy, 2) encourage the adoption and foster the creation of free, equitable, and accessible materials and participatory and collaborative assignments, and 3) vigorously advocate for cross-institutional collaboration and persistent funding to scale and maintain OEP work in the state.
