ILA’s Statement in Support of Illinois’ Readers’ Choice Awards
April 1, 2024Today is the first day of School Library Month and the Illinois Library Association (ILA) is proud to stand with the Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE) and our school library colleagues. ILA supports AISLE’s Statement on Illinois’ Readers' Choice Awards – Monarch, Bluestem, Rebecca Caudill, and Lincoln. School and public libraries across Illinois participate in the Readers’ Choice Award programs. The purpose of the awards is to encourage students to read widely, select what they want to read and share their opinions about what they have read.
In alignment with AISLE's vision, we firmly believe that providing students and young readers with such opportunities is essential. These awards play a pivotal role in nurturing a generation of avid readers, laying the foundation for their academic and professional success in the future.
To gain a deeper understanding of the awards, we invite you to attend one of the upcoming ILA Noon Network webinars featuring book talks on the nominees for 2025. You can learn more about these awards during these webinars, and explore strategies for implementing them in your school or library.
