Legislative Update -- April 27, 2023
April 27, 2023As we celebrate National Library Week, we would like to thank our members, non-members, advocates, and supporters for everything they have done and will continue to do on behalf of libraries and library professionals.
Today is Take Action for Libraries Day, a day of action during National Library Week! From Congress to local library boards, our elected officials need to hear from library supporters at all levels of government.
Advocates are joining forces this year to urge Congress to support school libraries and students' right to read! Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) and Rep. Ral Grijalva (D-AZ-7) introduced the Right to Read Act, which would protect school librarians' and students' rights to read, as well as require every student to have access to a school library.
