Legislative Update -- March 24, 2022
March 24, 2022FCC Announced Third Application Window for Emergency Connectivity Fund
From the FCC's March 23, 2022, press release: "The Federal Communications Commission today announced that it is opening a third application filing window to award at least $1 billion in Emergency Connectivity Fund support. The third application filing window will open on April 28, 2022 and close on May 13, 2022." To date, nearly 800 schools and libraries in Illinois have received funding commitments of more than $200 million, over twelve waves of funding awarded through the previous two application windows. Funding available through the third application window can be used for equipment and services purchased from July 1, 2022 through December 31, 2023. We encourage Illinois libraries, and school libraries via their districts, to apply for this funding, appropriated from the American Rescue Plan Act.
