ILA Executive Board Actions

ILA President Jeannie Dilger presided over a full day's agenda at the November 14, 2014, meeting at Heartland Community College in Normal, reviewing the annual audit and ILA's fiscal health, as well as current issues for Illinois libraries and the association.  Actions included: 
  • Support Senate Bill (SB) 218House Amendment One, to separate the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum from the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, making it its own state agency.
     
  • Support an ILA initiative in the Spring 2015 Illinois General Assembly
    to add libraries to the Heartsaver Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Grant Fund list of eligible entities from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
  • Support an ILA initiative in the Spring 2015 Illinois General Assembly to change 75 ILCS 5/4-10 by rewriting the section clarifying that the library tax levy amount would be filed at least sixty days prior to the levy date.
  • Formation of a board subcommittee to review ILA forums and committees to offer more opportunities for member engagement and plans to establish an ad hoc member group to explore categories and levels of membership.
