This position directs and oversees the operations and personnel of the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library for the City of Whitewater.
Get ready to expand! The Board of Trustees is seeking a creative and enthusiastic leader to expand and transform our library. Guided by our mission to "have the space and the stuff to do the things that you want," the ILYM Library has raised funds to renovate and add to the library building. Plans include a 7000 sq. ft. addition, which will provide more public meeting spaces; improved and upgraded connectivity, seating and lighting; a new makerspace for digital and craft projects; an expanded children's area and a new teen area.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
♦ Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution with five (5) years progressively responsible library experience that includes supervisory responsibility.
♦ Position requires a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Grade One (1) Library Certification.
Desired Qualifications:
♦ Experience with or willingness to work with diverse populations.
♦ Ability to maintain an inclusive, safe and welcoming environment by partnering with schools and other community organizations.
♦ An interest in new technologies and willingness to evolve with new approaches toward learning and community.
♦ Experience overseeing the physical and financial aspects of a library expansion project.
