Making Your Case

The facts you need to make the case for libraries

In order to be able to make your case to legislators and other elected officials, you need to be able to talk convincingly about the benefits libraries bring to their communities and the key values of our democracy that libraries uphold and protect. There is factual information to back up these assertions, and you should have it at your fingertips. You also need to have a general grasp of how libraries are organized and structured in Illinois, and other broad areas of Illinois law that often affect libraries, such as tax caps and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
