Committee Spotlight - iREAD Committee

iREAD Committee

October 17, 2019

The iREAD Committee is a dynamic group of volunteers dedicated to promoting reading, literacy and learning for all ages every year. The main task of the committee is to create content for the iREAD Program every summer, including determining upcoming themes; identifying renowned illustrators to create themed artwork; and developing the Resource Guide, the cornerstone of the program featuring ideas, scripts, crafts, promotion suggestions, bibliographies, and more –– all sourced by and for librarians.

The 2020 iREAD program theme is, Dig Deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover!, and will focus on looking beyond surface knowledge to discover new ideas and information about ourselves, each other and our world. This theme can be interpreted in several different ways which allows libraries to customize their program to best suit their individual needs. It can be based on earth science, dinosaurs, journalism, CSI, fake news, and more. The online store is open, so get ready to dig in!

Now that summer 2020 Dig Deeper has launched, we are already looking ahead to summer 2021, themed Reading Colors Your World. Got an idea for the 2021 Resource Guide? Visit ireadprogram.org and click on
