The Indian Prairie Public Library District is located in Darien Illinois serving 42,000 residents in the communities of Darien, Willowbrook and Burr Ridge. The Youth Services Department is extremely busy with a wide variety of services and programming and our patrons love our services and the warm and friendly staff!
Take the lead in connecting teens with the library in ways that responds to their needs and interests, enriches their lives, and empowers them to be builders of their own future. Plan, organize, and coordinate a comprehensive program of traditional, virtual, and cutting edge services for teens 7th through 12th grade, their caregivers, and schools. This includes planning and presenting classes, events, and volunteer opportunities, leading our Teen Advisory and Service Committee (TASC), and managing The Lounge teen space. The Teen Librarian works actively and collaboratively with the other library staff to support the library’s mission and strategic plan.
Applicants must have a commitment to excellent customer service, excel at communicating and collaborating, be friendly and enjoy interacting with others, plus have a sense of humor. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and a self-starter, displays initiative, and has excellent project management skills. You are also comfortable learning new technologies and making skills and you’re are interested in providing opportunities for others to engage with technology and making.
Qualifications include Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited school and two years of public library experience with an emphasis working with teens or one year of professional experience in a library setting in addition to two or more years of experience directly working with teens. The salary is $45,409.00+ DOQ and includes IMRF pension plan, health, dental and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, and paid holidays, vacation, sick and personal time.
