Are you an experienced public library leader and manager with a passion for serving the public? The Mount Prospect Public Library is looking for an inspiring leader to work with a talented management team to coordinate our public services.

Consider bringing your expertise, experience, and enthusiasm to MPPL as the Deputy Director of Public Services. This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating library services at the Main and South Branch facilities, including the functional areas of community engagement, front desk patron services, reference, reader's advisory, and programming for youth, teens, and adults.

The Deputy Director reports to the Executive Director and serves as a member of the Executive Team to advise and assist in the overall management of the Library.

Candidate should have excellent communication skills; a demonstrated ability to lead people and manage projects; strong knowledge of current and innovative public library services; strong interpersonal skills; upper level management or administrative experience; proven experience with developing and mentoring staff; positive attitude; flexible work style; and strong technology skills.

Requirements

MLS from ALA accredited library school required. Progressively responsible management experience in public library. Minimum of seven years public library experience with five years at the senior level including supervision of professional staff required. Upper management or administrative level experience in public libraries strongly preferred. Salary $80,000 dependent on qualifications.
