Glenview Public Library seeks an energetic, creative individual with a broad working knowledge of Reference in a public library environment, and strong personnel skills to lead its vibrant and creative Reference Services Department. The position requires excellent communication skills, innovative approaches to organizing, problem solving and knowledge of library trends and technology, including online databases and integrated library systems. Responsible for all aspects of administration and management of the Reference Services Department, including personnel, budget, and long-range planning as well as other innovative Reference programs and initiatives, including technology classes, gaming, murder mystery programs and STEAM activities. The Head of Reference is also responsible for the Library’s Genealogy and Local History Center, and will be an active participant in helping to design the Library’s new Innovation Center and Marketplace. The Head of Reference is an integral part of the Library’s Management Team. MLS from an ALA accredited institution and minimum of five years’ progressively responsible experience required, including administration and management of a library unit, preferably in a Reference Services public library environment. Hiring range: $67,332 – $84,165 (DOQ)
