Library Director | Watseka Public Library

The Watseka Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking an experienced, resourceful, friendly, and energetic library director to provide vision, management, and leadership for a small city library. Watseka is located in Iroquois County in east central Illinois. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. 

Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree strongly desired; Masters degree in Library & Information Science preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in supervision of multiple employees and working in a library setting for at least two years preferred. 
  • Ability to oversee all operations of the library facility
  • Experience in book selection and collection management
  • Ability to serve as library's executive officer and advisor to the nine member Board of Trustees.
  • Knowledge of library system (Polaris) and proficiency with computers, computer software, electronic resources, and other internet and digital communications to be able to assist library staff and community patrons. 
  • Excellent writing skills are imperative as position requires writing reports and grants.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with staff and patrons.

Salary
