About the Speakers

Michelle Simpson is the librarian at Richland County Elementary School in Olney, Illinois. This is her thirteenth and final year in that position. During her time there, she helped create a StoryWalk at the school's walking track. Michelle is an active member of AISLE and enjoys promoting the state award books in her school and community. She has served as a Monarch reader, pre-reader and worked on the steering committee in the area of publicity before becoming the current Monarch Chair.  


Robin Jacob is a Kindergarten through eighth grade Library Media Specialist at Rondout School in Lake Forest, Illinois. She has held a variety of roles throughout her years as an educator, including classroom teacher and language arts teacher. She is an active member of the IL Monarch Award Steering Committee, AISLE Linking for Learning Committee, and the Due North Chapter of AISLE Secretary/Treasurer.


Tammi Mellert is a reading specialist at Medinah Primary School and a National Board Certified Teacher. She worked as a part-time Youth Services Assistant at Roselle Public Library for ten years, where she created programs for children, developed literacy backpacks, and assisted in writing a grant for science kits. Tammi leads a STEM Club at her school where the activities are tied to literature. She has worked with the school librarian to enhance classroom libraries. Tammi has been a reader for the Monarch Committee and is currently co-chair of Publicity on the Executive Board.
