This webinar will focus on practical steps libraries can take to prepare for emergencies and respond to collections-related disasters. After this webinar, attendees will be able to identify and prioritize risks to their collections, create and implement a disaster response plan, and understand the basics of collections salvage. The presentation will focus on best practices, tips, and tools, and how to adapt them for libraries of any type, size, and budget.

About the Speaker

Shelby Strommer is the Collections Care Coordinator at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Library. She’s also a member of the National Heritage Responders, a volunteer group that responds to the needs of cultural heritage institutions during disasters. Shelby holds a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan, where she specialized in Preservation of Information.
