Vaccine Eligibility for Libraries in Illinois Counties

List updated 2/25/2021, 11:43 a.m.

Illinois libraries are encouraged to reach out to their county departments of health to request vaccine eligibility for library staff in Phase 1. ILA's template letter and our letter to the IDPH are available in the IDPH Resources section of the COVID-19 Resources page. We thank the libraries that have reached out so far!

To date, the CDC has included "libraries and archives" in Phase 1c. The Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA) has requested a move to Phase 1b.

If you are aware of a county including library workers in Phase 1 that is not listed here, please let us know at ila@ila.org. The list is updated every time we learn new information. To date, the following counties have been contacted; status is listed where known:

**Please note: Eligibility does not guarantee availability.

**Be aware that individual counties are handling eligibility for librarians differently. For example, some counties that are allowing librarians to be vaccinated in Phase 1b or 1c are having librarians list themselves as "educator" or "other" while some counties are having librarians list themselves as librarians/library staff. If you are unsure how your county is handling this, the best solution is to contact your local Health Department.
