Statement of Concern:
Illinois’ libraries of all types are essential resources in
their communities. However, the library community cannot rest on
this fact remaining true without broad efforts that demonstrate
the continued importance and value of the library as a place where
people and ideas converge. These efforts need to proceed both at
the grassroots level, by creating library supporters through service
and stewardship, and also at the wider level, by clearly showing
that Illinois libraries provide a positive return on investment.
These can be accomplished through the efforts of the whole library
community, and as an ILA Board Member I’ll work to see that
ILA serves as the nexus of that activity.
