Statement of Concern:
To guarantee a level of library service worthy of the people of
our state, the Illinois Library Association has a responsibility
to set the conditions for success within our greater civic, academic,
and corporate communities. Our legislative focus must work to enhance
state assistance to the broad range of Illinois libraries, strengthen
multi-type systems, provide service to un-served populations, create
frameworks for grant opportunities and alternate sources of funding,
and eliminate burdensome mandates affecting access, tax authority
and privacy. Those who answer the call to serve are deserving of
innovative efforts to recognize, train, and retain the talented
and experienced practitioners of librarianship and its allied professions
within our member institutions.
