Statement of Concern:
Libraries in Illinois serve as essential anchors to our communities by collaborating and cooperating with patrons, organizations and civic leaders to promote explorative learning through innovative programming, spaces, collections and virtual destinations. The opportunity for the future preservation and expansion of our profession rests within each of us as marketers, strategists, managers, fund-raisers, speakers, teachers, laborers, and advocates, as well as our traditional role as top-tier information services providers. Confident and skilled library leadership in a world challenged by globalization, turbulent economic fundamentals, quick technological change and exponentially increased user-generated information is my area of prime concern. I am flattered to be given the opportunity to serve and assist the Illinois Library Association as it tackles this new age of learning, research, and community service.
